High Tech

Student Steven Edwards, had 'barrowed' his uncle's quad for a joy ride through the Australian outback on a rather cool early evening.   Of course the vehicle breaks down far
from his uncles home, forcing him to walk back.  Soon after starting the trek, a meteor strikes the landscape over a near-by hill.  Young Steve, always looking for excitement, ventured to investigate.  There he found a cracked sphere in a firey crater.  On closer investigation he could see slight movement from the damaged sphere.  As he got closer, it
emitted a pulsating sound, faster as Steve got closer, but also fainter.  Steve determined it was in distress and attempted to help in, but it exploded just as he reached for it.  The
explosion knocked the boy clear of the crater, covered in shrapnel.  Steve was very badly
injured and dying.  Just as he felt his life slipping away, he could hear a voice in his head.
The voice apologized for killing him, but tried to warn him away.  It was a probe which had monitored Earth for centuries, but was attacked by an unknown force.  It was also 'dying' and was trying to repair itself, but used its power to warn off Steve.  A minute later, both
stopped living.  An hour later, as the sun set, Steve awoke with no injuries.  He remembered what had happened, but dismissed it as a dream because he appeared perfectly healthy, and his clothes were not shredded.  He walked back to the quad, where he found it worked just as he touched it.  Eventually he made it back to his unhappy uncle's home.
Over the next few weeks, young Steven noticed he was able to better control electronic and
mechanical devises, by a touch or mental communication.  This ability he kept to himself until another sphere, like in his 'dream' attacked him on the way to school.  As he felt threated, and started to flee, his body transformed into a human, robotic hybrid.  A new form of life, more than a cyborg.  In short order, he defeated the alien sphere, and absorbed the fragments.  That's when he learned what had happened to him in the outback.  How the probe was from a future alien society studying Earth's history.  The probe's 'dying' thoughts were of repair and remorse, thus it unknowingly rebuilt itself and Steve.  Now, at will, young Steven can become HIGH TECH, the human robot.  As High Tech, he can electropathicly communicate with mechanical and electronic devises, and control them.  He also has immense strength, speed and the ability to fly.  Steve loses all but his electropathic abilities while in his human form.  He also has trouble feeling or understanding human emotions while in robot mode.
